The Beatles were one of the most popular music bands in 1960 throughout the world. The Beatles first met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in London (1967). Later they also attended seminar of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at Wales. In February 1968, the Beatles travelled to Rishikesh to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation training session at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Some people believe that the Beatles were feeling so much stress due to constant media attention & fame. Even their internal relations were also affected. Their tour of Rishikesh gave them new vision to their life. The Maharishi also helped the band in at the time of loss of their manager, Brian Epstein. The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi also inspired the beatles band to maintain good thoughts.In present time Rishikesh became a world capital of Yoga & Meditation and also a hub of White Water River Rafting and Adventure Camping The Beatles were attracted to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Meditation & teachings, wanting to learn more, they kept in contact with Maharishi and made arrangements to spend time with him at his teaching centre located near Rishikesh, in the Valley of the Saints at the foothills of the Himalayas.
Along with their wives, girlfriends, assistants and numerous reporters, the Beatles arrived in India and joined the group of 60 people who were training to be Transcendental Meditation teachers, including musicians Donovan, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, and flautist Paul Horn. While there, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Harrison wrote many songs and Ringo Starr finished writing his first. Eighteen of those songs were recorded for The Beatles ("the White Album"), two songs appeared on the Abbey Road album, and others were used for various solo projects. After The Beatles visit to Rishikesh, the city came into limelight & became a popular destination among the international tourists. Not only had that but their visit also changed opinion of the western world about Indian spirituality. Yoga & meditation become new trend & Rishikesh become hub for the yoga & meditation internationally. Later Rishikesh became Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh is constantly inspiring & helping people which are looking for peace & stress free life.
The ashram is now open, after a very long time the state Government of India took it into account to be tourist place and yoga learning school.
On 10 December 2015 Beatles Ashram has been open to tourist with some of entry ticket.

How to Reach Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh

This ashram is now famous as Beatles ashram. Ashram is now officially open. It is located in Swargashram area. There is road from the Ram Jhula which has Gita Bhawan & Parmath NIketan Ashram. At the end of that road you will see old closed Iron Gate of the Beatles Ashram.
The Beatles ashram is 1 kms far from Ram Jhula bridge. The Ashram is around 04 kms far from Rishikesh Railway Station and3 kms far from Lakshman Jhula Bridge.

Current Situation of Beatles Ashram

The Beatles ashram is now officially open & the whole area is under Government control. Still there are old buildings of ashram.
