Kedar means the protector and the destroyer that stands for Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is most sacred place in Uttarakhand Himalaya and the temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at a height of 3553 Mtr above sea level and located in the lap of the majestic mountain peaks and near the head of Mandakini river in Rudraprays district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand state of India. Kedarnath is also one of important Panch kedars of loard shiva.
According to the Hindu mythology the temple built by Pandavas (Five famous characters of Mahabharata) when they were on their pilgrimage to heaven and was reinstalled by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. The main attractions here the Shiva Temple, beautiful scenic views of white Himalaya, peaceful energy that relax the mind and finish the pressure of hectic regular life attracting millions of devotees from all over the world.
Except Kedarnath temple the whole place was washed away by flash floods disaster happened in June 2013 but now with constant efforts of the Government of Uttarakhand and Centre the temple area and the way leading to it have almost been reconstructed.

Itinerary
Day: 1 Rishikesh – Sitapur/Sonprayag (255kms/7hr)
Morning drive Sitapur or Sonprayag (depends on availability) from Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun.
Day 02: Sitapur/Sonprayag – Kedarnath - Sonprayag/Sitapur (19kms trek each side)
Early morning start your 19 kms trek to Kedarnath Temple or you may hire Horse/Palki/Doli to avoid trek or you may go by helicopter on your own cost then come back to Sonprayag or Sitapur.
Day 03: Sitapur/Sonprayag – Rishikesh (255kms/7hr)
Morning drive back to Rishikesh and visit Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla and Ganga Arti then drop to Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun (Train Station/Bus Stand/Airport).
