7 Nights 8 Days Gangotri – Gaumukh- Tapovan Trekking Package

Gaumukh iis the source of the Bhagirathi River and also known as the origin of mother River Ganga. This is a terminus of Gangotri Glacier which is one of the four religious pilgrimage of Uttarakhand, India (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri) and also a Glacier itself. Gaumukh Glacier located at an altitude of 4023 mtrs. It is largest one in the Himalayas spread over 27 cubic Kilometers. It is very famous trekking destination and Hindu pilgrimage site within the Gangotri place. It is the place where Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva to descend mother Ganga on earth. After the 18 kms trek from Gangotri the beautiful surrounding of very famous Himalayan peaks Gaumukh can be seen.

Tapovan(4463mtrs) is a further 5 Kms trek from Gaumukh located at the foot of Shivling peak is a seasonal home to many sadhus living in caves to realization of divine energy. Mountaineers during their expeditions to Shivling peak and Bhagirathi peak stay here at base camp and an ultimate destination for those come for Gangotri to Tapovan trek.

Detailed Itinerary
DAY 01: Rishikesh – Uttarkashi (Drive 180 kms/ 5-6 hrs/1150 mtr)
After breakfast meet the guide and drive to Uttarkashi via the Tehri Dam, which is the biggest Dam of India generating 2400 MW electricity. On arrival at Uttarkashi check into the Hotel. Uttarkashi is a famous place and a halt for people going to Gangotri. Evening time is free to explore the famous temple here by your own. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 02: Uttarkashi – Gangotri (Drive 95 kms/ 2-3 hrs/ 3048 mtr)
EAfter breakfast proceed to Gangotri, on the route visit Harsil village, Bhagirathi River along the beautiful view of the Himalayas and visit Gangotri Temple. Overnight stay.

Gangotri Place is considered to be the origin of the Ganga River and situated at an elevation of 3,200 mts from the sea level. There are many Ashrams and Dharamshala located in the Gangotri Temple. The original temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the early years of the 18th century and later rebuilt by the Maharaja of Jaipur. The shrine of Gangotri temple is 18th century old with an exquisite 20 ft structure made of white granite.

DAY 03: Gangotri – Bhojwassa (3685 mts/12440 ft) 14 kms trek/6-7 hrs)
After breakfast meet our trekking team and begin the trek to Bhojwasa via Chirvasa (3600mt). From Gangotri. The complete trek follows a parallel course along the River Bhagirathi steadily gaining elevation with every step. After Chirvasa the place becomes really sandy and uninhabited. The trek further to the Bhojvasa small temple slowly flattens out. After reaching the Bhojvasa enjoy the excellent sunset on Bhagirathi group of peaks and the base camp is set up here near the river. After having Dinner overnight stay in tents.

DAY 04: Bhojwassa – Gaumukh (3890 Mts) 4 Kms Trek– Tapovan (4463 Mts) 5 Kms Trek
Early morning enjoy the panoramic view of Bhagirathi peaks and have breakfast, then start trek to Gaumukh (3890mt) peak, which is the origin of the River Ganga and Tapovan. Gaumukh is the place looks like a cow’s mouth that is why it is called Gaumukh it is that where the trickles of water from the glacier down to the river. The trek from Gaumukh to Tapovan is a steep ascent over the side of the glacier and as one climbs the view of the surrounding peaks becomes clear.

DAY 05: Tapovan (4463 Mts)
The full day is spent in relaxation, acclimatization, meditation and enjoying a beautiful view of the magnificent snow clapped Himalayan mountain peaks and overnight stay at the camp.

Tapovan is best known for its charming meadows which is a pictorial place with a large area encompass the base of the Shivling peak and replete with wildflowers. Swarm of blue mountain goats is a commonlyseen here. Bhagirathi group of peaks I, II, III with an elevation OS 6454mt provide an equally attracting sight on the far side of the glacier. Reach Tapovan and set up the camp, then have dinner and overnight stay in camp

DAY 06: Tapovan – Bhojwassa (9 Kms Trek back 2-3 hrs)
Early morning enjoy the sunrise visit and witness the changing colors of the mountains in the sunrays. After breakfast trek back down to Bhojwassa. Retrace the route and arrive the camp at Bhojwassa. After Dinner overnight stay at the camp.

DAY 07: Bhojwassa – Gangotri (14 Kms Trek 4-5 hrs) – Uttarkashi (95 kms/3-4 hrs)
Early morning after breakfast trek down to the Gangotri and then drive back to Uttarkashi. On arrival at Uttarkashi check into the hotel have Dinner and then overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 08: Uttarkashi – Rishikesh
After breakfast drive back to the Rishikesh. On arrival at Rishikesh transfer to railway station.

Cancellation charges are going to be effective from the date we receive a recommendation in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows: -
